Ray Acheson visits Huron January 22, 2018 Please join us in the Great Hall to welcome and hear from Ray Acheson Ray Acheson is Director of the disarmament programme of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the oldest women's peace organisation in the world. She represents WILPF on the International Steering Group of ICAN, which won the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for its work to outlaw nuclear weapons. Ray helped develop ICAN’s strategy and was a leading civil society advocate during the negotiation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. She will be discussing the challenges of nuclear weapons and how activists and diplomats have worked together to ban nuclear weapons and confront international structures of power.
