Read the following before beginning with online registration.

    Step 1:

Take a look at the requirements for your degree and the courses offered in this year's timetable.  Full-time students take 7 half courses (3.5 credits) per year (normal is 10.0 credits, or 5.0 per term); and part-time students take 6 or fewer courses per year.

    Step 2:

Choose the courses you want to take for this year, keeping in mind the prerequisites listed which you must have previously taken.  First-year student should consult suggested courses for first year.  Once you have chosen the courses you need for the 2014-15 school year, go back to the instructions above for the Bachelor's students, to find a step-by-step guide to enrolling in your courses online.

    Step 3:

Ensure your Western email account is active. If it is not active, retrieve your Access Code on the Student Services website. Click "Click Here for Access Code Retrieval" and follow the instructions to retrieve your Access Code. Return to the Student Services website and click "Don't know your Western Identity Password?" Click here to set your UWO email password.

    Step 4:

(For upper year students) Find your registration appointment date. Log in to your Student Centre to find your earliest web registration date.

Course selection dates are grouped by year in the following sequence:

     Year 4 students - June 22 9:30am to June 25
    Year 3 students - July 6 9:30am to July 9
    Year 2 students - July 14 9:30am to July 17

Priority Lifting Day is July 24

Note: Year 1 students are not competing for the same courses as senior students; therefore they may select courses at any time during the enrolment period after they have received academic counselling during a Transition Session. The enrollment period for first-year students begins on June 13 at 9:30am.

    Step 5:

Web registration. Access the Student Centre and log in using your Western email user name and password. Under the "Enrollment" heading, click the "Add a Class" link and follow the instructions to add your classes.

    Other important details

    New Students & Student Numbers

If you haven't already been a UWO student, you won't have a student number.  Contact the Faculty of Theology office at 519-438-7224, ext. 289 to get your student number.

You will need this student number in order to get your UWO Access Number, which is required to activate your UWO ID.  You may want to activate your UWO identity first, by following the easy instructions on pages 18-20 in this guide.

    Prerequisites

Sometimes the system will not allow you to take a second-term course, when you haven't yet completed the prerequisite first-term course.  See the Theology Office in September to add that second-term course(s) in person, on paper.

    Bachelor's Courses for Master's Students

You will normally register for courses at the 5000-level only.  With permission from the Faculty of Theology office, you may also select from the following two courses as electives:  Religious Studies 3020f/g (The Early History of God:  Origins of Monotheism) and Religious Studies 3030f/g (Angry God:  The Bible and War).

Deadlines for Adding and Dropping Courses

First Term (Fall)  ("f" and "a" courses)

Second Term Courses (Winter) ("b" and "g" courses)

View Sessional Dates for information on deadlines.

These deadlines are for dropping without academic penalty.  Please consult with the accounting office for information about the schedule of refunds.

Registration 2016-2017

Step 1: Figure out what courses you need to take

Look up your degree checklist to see what courses you need for your specialization/major/minor. The year you declared your specialization/major/minor is the years of the degree checklist you need.

Look up the breadth requirements. Do you have courses from categories A, B and C? Do you have your essay requirements?

Other resources for course information are the Academic Calendar and Western’s First Year calendar.

Step 2: Develop a conflict free timetable

Use the online Fall/Winter 2016-17 Academic Timetable to determine the time and location of your desired courses.   Note: If a course is listed in the Academic Calendar but is not listed in the Academic Timetable, it is not being offered this year.

Make sure no classes overlap and that you have the pre-requisites and are eligible for your desired courses. Remember, all full-time Huron students must take a minimum of 3.0 courses at Huron.

New for 2016 is the Draft My Schedule tool. You can sue this tool to drag and drop course into a schedule. You need an active UWO account to log in. See step 3 for information on how to activate your account.

First year students must attend a Transition Session to have their course selections signed off by an Academic Advisor. Out of Province or live overseas? Go to the Transition Session web page for your next steps.

Step 3: Activate your Student Account

You can activate your student account here. If your account is not active, you cannot register for courses. If you have lost your Access Code (mailed to you in your acceptance package) you can retrieve it through Student Centre, by clicking "Don't know your Access Code? Click here for Access Code Retrieval". If you need help, contact the ITS Help Desk at 519 661-3800.

Step 4: Find out what date you can go online and register for courses

(For upper year students). Log in to your Student Centre to find your earliest web registration date.

Course selection dates are grouped by year:

Year 4 - June 21 - 24
Year 3 - July 4 - 7
Year 2 - July 12 - 15

Year 1 students are not competing for the same courses as senior students; therefore they may select courses at any time during the enrollment period after they have received academic advising during a Transition Session. The enrollment period for first-year students begins on June 11.

Your registration does not end on the last day of your web registration date. You have until August 22 to register for courses. For any courses that have special priorities for group of students, these priorities are lifted after July 21. If you fail to register for courses by August 22, don’t worry, extended web registration begins August 23 and runs until classes begin.

Step 5: Register for classes

Access the Student Centre and log in using your Western email user name and password. Under the "Enrollment" heading, click the "Add a Class" link and follow the instructions to add your classes.

For help with web registration, read the Step by Step Guide to registration

For help with Student Centre, read the Student Centre Access Guide

If there is an error

  1. Find out what the error means (it may just be a timetable conflict)
  2. Check that you have the pre-requisites and that you do not have any anti-requisites
  3. Check that you have entered the appropriate course, tutorial, and lab numbers
  4. Look in the timetable -- is the course "restricted" or is "priority" given to a designated group of students
  • to register for a "priority" course you must wait until July 21
  • to register for a "restricted" course you must contact Academic Advising
Regular registration will end on August 21. The extended registration period will run from August 22 to September 18 at midnight.
