The Rights & Democracy Delegation at Huron University College, with Amnesty International presented the Hon. John McKay, Member of Parliament and Privy Council on February 3rd, 2010 at Huron University College.
Mr. McKay spoke to students about Private Members Bill C-300 and the future of Canadian corporate responsibility. Mr. McKay introduced Private Members Bill C-300 on February 9, 2009. The Bill seeks to promote responsible environmental practices and international human rights standards on the part of Canadian mining, oil and gas corporations in developing countries. The purpose of this Act is to ensure that corporations engaged in mining, oil or gas activities and receiving support from the Government of Canada act in a manner consistent with international environmental best practices and with Canada's commitments to international human rights standards.

On October 19th, Dr. Harriet Ritvo, professor of History at MIT, was the guest lecturer for the Douglas and Margaret Derry Interdisciplinary Lecture Series, speaking on the topic "The Animals' Turn? New Approaches in the Humanities and Social Sciences."

On October 15, 2009 the Centre for Abrahamic Religions at Huron University College in London, Ontario presented "Not Consensus but Friendship: the Performance and Practice of Scriptural Reasoning." The presentation, featuring Professor Peter Ochs, was part of the R.T. Orr Lecture in the Faculty of Theology.
