Applications for a Dean's Waiver of Progression Requirements

The following procedures for submitting an Application for a Dean’s Waiver of Progression Requirements have been determined by the University of Western Ontario, and are available to review in detail at UWO Academic Calendar. Below are guidelines specifically designed to assist Huron students understand this process


Students who are required to withdraw from the University at the end of April may request a Dean’s Waiver of Progression Requirements in order to receive special permission from the Dean to return to their studies in September.  The application must be submitted in writing to the Dean by June 30th if required to withdraw at the end of April, or within 30 days of grades being posted on UWO Student Centre if required to withdraw following any other session. 


Students may request a Waiver of the Progression Requirements only if they experienced major problems during the academic year which were outside of their control.  The problems must have been severe enough to have had a major impact on academic performance, and must be supported by appropriate documentation.


Waivers of the Progression Requirements are normally granted in exceptional circumstances only; it is not the usual practice of Huron University College to grant more than one waiver during a student's academic career.
