Our Facilitators
Take the following non-university, short-term courses singly, for your own interest, or toward the Lay Certificate in Theology. There are no prerequisites; we are happy to offer lay people this opportunity to take special interest courses in a wide variety of topics. All courses meet at Huron University College.
If you choose to take the following courses toward the Lay Certificate, you will complete a project successfully at the end of each course to earn a course credit. This year, we are offering both full courses and half-credit courses.
Accumulate 10 full credits, and you will receive the Lay Certificate.

A Lenten study that will apply methods designed to draw you deeply into the Scriptures. These 5 nights will look at the long arc of the Lenten Lectionary readings for Sundays as they lead us to experience the Easter/Paschal cycle more fully. Valuable to clergy for tuning up weekly sermons, these sessions will also deepen biblical understanding and enjoyment for lay participants. For all, it's a chance to enjoy Bill Cliff's amusing, astonishing, grace-filled readings as they lead to learning and devotion.

Would you like to participate more fully in the music of the church? Bill Lupton will lead us on a whirlwind tour through all things related to church music: the outline of liturgy, the relationships of musical leadership, hymns: why we sing them, seasonal and scriptural song, plainsong and psalms, sung prayers, music with children, Taizé, GIA, prayer books, weddings, funerals– you name it, Bill teaches it! Full of practical information, this course will fill you with music for your congregation and your life.

For clergy and lay people of all denominations with an interest in developing their leadership skills, this is a session not to be missed!

the Chaplain at Huron University College, is well-known through the Canadian Church as one of the acclaimed “Three Cantors.” His passions and expertise include liturgy, music and interpreting scripture in fresh, life-giving ways. Bill has been involved with the national youth program “Ask and Imagine” and has served on the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
Kevin Dixon is Dean of the Diocese of Huron and Rector of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. He has 25 years’ experience providing effective and inspired leadership at the parish and community level in southern Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia.
William Lupton has been Chapel Organist and Director of Music at Huron University College since 1995. He is also Director of Music at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London and national President of the Royal School of Church Music Canada.
is the “teaching pastor” at North Park Community Church in London, one of the largest congregations in southwestern Ontario. Raised in Montreal, Dom grew up in an eclectic cultural setting and this, along with his passion for music and scripture, has helped prepare him to be a uniquely gifted teacher. Presently working on his Ph.D. (from Wycliffe College), Dom is also an adjunct lecturer in Church History at Huron University College.
