Huron, you have the ability to be close to the students (Dr. Alfred Chan)

Christine Hughes, Class of 2001

Community Education, Kingston, Ontario

The variety of subject areas that I was exposed to in my classes means today I have the knowledge background to enter a number of different professions. I also now appreciate the many ideas and theories that I studied - I can discuss a wide variety of topics and argue both sides. A liberal arts education equipped me with excellent skills in writing and critical analysis that are important in so many professions. And Huron's smaller classes mean you are a name, not a number or a nameless face to your professors. The small classes allow for meaningful discussion in class, even in first year.

Far and away, the most distinguished aspects of my time at Huron that have helped me were the opportunities for international learning experiences. I traveled to Honduras three times with other Huron students and faculty to do volunteer work. Also, I was afforded the opportunity to go to Malawi and also enjoyed interaction with international students at Huron. Those experiences directed me toward a master's degree in International Development Studies and an internship in Guatemala, and I am on my way to a career in international development.

Mike Greb, Class of 2001

Manager, External Relations, Toronto

If I can provide one piece of advice to prospective students, it would be to visit the school before you make your final decision. The decision of where you choose to study will shape who you become. This is why visiting the school, meeting the professors and school administrators should be a priority when making your decision.

Everyone has his or her own story to tell, and my story is that Huron completely changed me in ways I was not expecting. I knew as soon as I set foot on campus that Huron was for me.

My experience there changed everything from the way I approached problems to the way I valued friendships. My experiences over my four years at Huron shaped me into an incredibly focused individual achieving goals that exceeded my original expectations.
