Wes Delve, Class of 1989
Elementary/Secondary French Immersion Teacher
A background in a wide variety of areas is key for not only the realities of teaching, but for furthering a career in many areas of education.
What distinguishes Huron are the small classes, close association and lasting friendships with professors, cultural events, wealth of subject-specific resources, individual attention, and encouragement and support to succeed to one's potential and beyond.
Ashley Ball, Class of 2003
Dance Studio Director, Mississauga
I received my degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies (Finance and Administration) from Huron University College. I have since moved back to my hometown of Mississauga and opened up my own dance studio, Studio A Dance Academy Inc.
Undoubtedly, my educational experience at Huron helped me prepare for this venture. In general, studying at Huron in small classes with close student/teacher interaction allowed me to achieve successful academic results. At Huron, the professors truly care about your progress and are more available to assist you after class hours.
The courses in the ACS program including Business 020, Business 257, Marketing, Operations, and Strategy helped me in starting my business venture. The Business plan I prepared for the bank for initial financing for Studio A Dance Academy was put together using all the knowledge gained through these courses.
Aside from the academic education at Huron, socially the College prepared me for this venture. The social environment at Huron is very welcoming and not as intimidating as very large universities. It was very inviting to be a part of the extra-curricular activities.
I would recommend Huron University College to students because of the smaller, interactive learning environment, professors' acute attention to your needs and the close, comfortable community environment.
