"Huron Connections" - more opportunities for Huron alumni to connect through the College's career mentoring program

Mentoring1.jpg

To provide more career networking opportunities for Huron alumni, plans are underway for Huron to expand its current mentoring program.  Sponsored by the Huron University College Alumni Association in conjunction with the Huron Alumni and Community Development office and the Career Development Office, the “Huron Connections” mentoring program will provide new networking opportunities and business connections for Huron alumni and senior students.

Huron’s mentoring program aims to connect alumni with students and other alumni to:

• help alumni and senior students explore different career paths through career advice and coaching from Huron alumni
• facilitate career transitions for alumni and students
• provide young alumni in particular with role models who can guide their  professional development

What’s new

Mentoring2.jpg“Huron Connections” offers the opportunity for alumni and senior students to be matched with alumni established in their fields and spend time together to share experiences and resources.

Mentors and mentees connect a minimum of two times over a period of six months and can expect to commit between 4-10 hours of time to the program.  Meeting longer and more often is possible if desired.

Interested participants, both mentors and mentees, complete and submit a profile form to the College, which matches mentors and mentees.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor or mentee, check out the links below for further details about the program, activities and guidelines.  On each page there is a further link to be completed and submitted to the College to enroll in the program.

Continuing online career mentoring program

In addition to the “Huron Connections” program described above, Huron’s online mentoring program, accessible online, offers the names of distinguished alumni representing a broad variety of professional backgrounds in cities across Canada for fellow alumni and senior students to access.  It’s an opportunity for alumni to share their experience and offer career and professional advice to fellow members of the Huron community as they pursue their careers.

Interested alumni contact the Huron Alumni office to obtain the username and password for the protected site, which provides the names, emails and areas of professional interest for alumni who have agreed to be contacted.  This program will continue to be offered.  The College welcomes alumni who wish to be a mentor contact as well as those seeking career advice from a mentor.
