Our residences are wired!
Students living in the Southwest, O'Neil, and Hellmuth residences have access to RezNet (Residence Network) which provides high speed internet access to the student's room.
Benson and Cronyn House also have RezNet but residents must come to the Computer Lab to pay for it in order for it to be activated.
NOTE: RezNet is not a wireless service and wireless is not permitted or supported in the residences.
Network Card: Students must have a 10baseT network card (ethernet) installed in their computer.
Cost: $295 for 8 months (included in your residence fee with the exception of Benson and Cronyn)
Students are asked to supply their own internet cable for RezNet. There will be a limited supply of cables for sale in the Computer Lab if you forget to bring one.
Signing Up: The RezNet fee is included in your residence fee. On Labour Day you can come to the Computer Lab to get help setting up your RezNet. After Labour Day, assistance is available during regular office hours or by contacting the RezNet Hotline.
Opting Out: If you wish to opt out of RezNet, come to the Computer Lab and complete the Opting Out form for refund. Deadlines:
In order to prevent your computer from getting viruses we strongly advise that you install all of the patches available for your operating system before you arrive. Go to:
You must install anti-virus software prior to connecting your computer to the internet in your residence room. Computers infected with a virus will be disconnected from the RezNet network without notice. Anti-virus software can be purchased from the Campus Computer Store or the UWO Bookstore.
Email Accounts: All registered Huron and UWO students receive a FREE computer account and e-mail address. You must activate your computer account by going to www.uwo.ca/its, clicking on the purple Student button located at the top of the page and choose Personal Computer Account - Activate It from the list provided. You will need your student and PIN number to do this. Make sure you record your user name and password for future reference. You will need this information to check your email, get your timetable and marks online, to register your computer for RezNet or for wireless access.

If the RezNet hotline is unable to get you up and running over the phone, you can schedule a RezCon to come to your room and help you.
RezNet Blitz Nights: On these two evenings, RezNet staff will visit the residences to assist with any outstanding problems. Please note that you must be listed in their database as having an outstanding problem in order to receive a visit. To do this, call the RezNet Hotline to report your problem- 519-661-4225.
