Huron earns top marks in Ontario in Maclean's University Student Issue

News Release

Huron has once again earned high marks in student satisfaction in the latest Maclean's magazine February 2010 rankings of universities across Canada.

The College finished first in Ontario in three of the nine categories in which it was ranked as reported by Maclean's in its February 22, 2010 edition. Results including Huron were first reported in 2008.

As the basis for their rankings, the editors used results from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) in which 64 universities from across Canada participated, including Huron. Huron finished first in Ontario in each of the following categories:

Of the nine categories of student satisfaction, Huron finished above the NSSE benchmark in seven of the nine categories.

Moreover, Huron's results improved in a number of categories compared to two years ago when Huron students were first surveyed. For example, 95% of students rated their entire educational experience as excellent or good, compared with 91% in 2007.

Says Principal Dr. Ramona Lumpkin: "Maclean's has once again reported tremendous results for Huron, reflecting the exceptional quality of the educational experience we offer. The Huron community has always known this, but the Maclean's report serves to broaden awareness of what makes Huron so special. These are results in which we can all take great pride."
