Offers of admission are sent out on a rolling basis. This means that as soon as you have your admission documents sent to our office, you will hear from us. It normally takes about a week or process an offer of admission. We will also email you to let you know that an offer is on its way.
Conditional offers of admission are contingent upon the applicant meeting the following criteria:
a) successful completion of your provincial high school diploma;
b) obtaining a minimum of 70% in grade 12 Academic English;
c) maintaining a minimum final average as stated in the offer of admission letter (including any required courses).
Applicants who do not meet any one of these conditions will have their offer of admission rescinded. If there are extenuating circumstances that prevented you from meeting these requirements, contact our Admission Office after your final exams.
Yes. Applicants who do not meet the requirements for the Management and Organizational Studies program will automatically be considered for admission to the Social Science program.
If your final grade falls below the minimum stated in the admission letter, your offer of admission will be rescinded.
Huron University College is an affiliate of The University of Western Ontario. This means that Huron students have access to all of the facilities, health services, libraries, academic services, athletics and clubs that are offered to Western students while still enjoying the close-knit living and learning environment offered by Huron. Huron students can take up to 2.0 courses every year at Western and can even complete a double major with a Huron program and a Western program. In the end, Huron students graduate with a degree from The University of Western Ontario with a Huron distinction.
Huron will use the highest grade reported, without penalty.
Your grades in these courses will be treated the same as your regular day courses and calculated in your average. If you are taking a correspondence or night school course do not assume that your high school will send us these grades. You will need to make sure that your interim/final grades are sent to the attention of the admissions office as soon as they are available.
If you have more academic courses than required and your failed course is not a required course (English), the failed course will not impact your offer of admission. However, if the failed course is one of the required number of academic courses you are presenting, your offer of admission will be rescinded.
Huron will not make conditional offers of admission based on the completion of a summer school course that you will be taking in the summer of 2010. However, should you take a course(s) required for admission to Huron during the summer, submit your final grade(s) and you will be re-assessed for admission based on availability of spaces in the program at that time.
Yes. Your response due date will be noted on your offer of admission.
Submitting a new acceptance to the OUAC will cancel any previous acceptances. The new acceptance must be submitted to the OUAC by the deadline on your offer.
The automatic entrance scholarships are based on your final average and for most students will be determined in July, after we receive your final grades from your high school.
Yes. The National Scholarships require a separate application. (Click here to access form.)
Yes. If you indicated that you are interested in living in residence on your OUAC application you will receive a residence application with your offer of admission letter. The residence application and deposit must be received at Huron by May 28, 2010 in order to maintain the residence guarantee.
During June and July students are invited to participate in a transition session. These in-person sessions are designed to help students select and register for the right first-year courses to meet their academic goals. If you can not attend a transition session because you live in another province, please contact the Academic Services office to set up a telephone or Internet appointment.
Huron has many programs in place to ensure academic excellence. Huron's Academic Services include; transition sessions, mid-year review, career and employment counselling, a writing centre, a Chaplaincy and access to Western's Student Development Centre.
