Food PlansHuron has four food plans: "A" ($3,685), "B" ($3,025) and "C" ($2,260) for first year students and "D" ($1,570) for upper year students.
The food plan pricing looks like those of your friends living on the Main Campus with residence pricing (discounted from retail) and Western Flex dollars!
Yes, Huron residents are able to use their food plan on the Main Campus!! Each of Huron's food plans have Western flex dollars! The "A", "B", and "C" plans each have $400.00 flex dollars and the "D" plan has $200.00 Flex Dollars! Listed below are the outlets where you will be able to use your Flex Dollars.
How is my meal plan set up?You have the benefit of having a residence meal plan account as well as a separate Western flex dollars account. The residence meal plan consists of an overhead portion and a food credit portion. The overhead portion covers the fixed capital and administrative costs involved in operating our residence dining facilities, such as wages, utilities, equipment purchases, maintenance, and use of dishware and utensils. Pricing for food purchases in residents dining halls reflects that the overhead charge (covering administrative and capital costs as described above) has been removed (a discount from the retail prices is processed at the cash register). The price charged to residence includes the cost of the product(s), factoring in seasonal price and marketing board fluctuations and freight costs, and takes wastage, theft, spillage and condiments into account. The food credit portion is reduced each time you purchase prepared food or meal items. Students also have convenience dollars which are for the purchase of products such as chocolate bars, gum, canned or bottled pop, and potato chips etc.. The "A", "B" and "C" plans each have $200 convenience dollars and the "D" plan has $100 convenience dollars.
The A is designed for those who will frequent the cafeteria with regularity. This plan is our most popular plan by far - and for good reason - it gives students the ultimate in worry free dining. Choose this meal plan if you'll be snacking or eating every day on campus, and in particular if you will be eating on weekends!
The B is designed for the average appetite. This plan is a great option as it is designed for students who will be eating most days on campus, and the occasional weekend.
The C is designed for light eaters. If you rarely make it to the cafeteria, and are off-campus most weekends, then this meal plan is perfect for you.
The D is our minimum meal plan and is available for upper year students only. It is designed for students who are living in Huron's houses and who will be doing some of their own cooking.
Where can I use my flex dollars?Your flex dollars can be used at a number of outlets on and off the Western Campus. Purchases made using your flex dollars are subject to regular retail pricing and applicable taxes. Please note that alternate dining options are based on student interest and demand, and as such, are subject to change.

Before October 1,2010, you may move to a smaller/larger plan. Meal plans will not be altered after this date.
